At the
southernmost tip of Texas, Villa Del Sol houses 200 elderly and disabled residents
earning less than $10,000 annually in 2004. Built by the Brownsville Housing
Authority in 1971, the 14-story building will
undergo significant renovation, including adding central air conditioning.
Currently fully occupied, residents will be relocated temporarily while the
building is updated. Renovations are to begin Summer 2005.
