At the southernmost tip of Texas, Villa Del Sol houses 200 elderly and disabled residents earning less than $10,000 annually in 2004. Built by the Brownsville Housing Authority in 1971, the 14-story building will undergo significant renovation, including adding central air conditioning. Currently fully occupied, residents will be relocated temporarily while the building is updated. Renovations are to begin late spring 2005.
